Pupils and Staff Celebrate GCSE Success
Year 11 pupils collected their GCSE results today and there were many reasons to celebrate. These results were the culmination of many years of hard work from both students and the staff who have taught them.
For the first time, students have sat some of the new reformed GCSEs. As well as changes in content, these new GCSEs are awarded grades 9 to 1 instead of A* to G. This year, students have sat reformed GCSEs in English Language, English Literature and Mathematics. Pleasingly, all pupils achieved at least a grade 4 or above (equivalent to a grade C or above) in the new qualifications with 54% of the grades at grades 9-7 (equivalent to A*/A) and 11% at the new grade 9. Overall, 98% of grades were grade C/4 or better and 64% were grade A/7 or better. 100% of pupils achieved 5 GCSE standard passes including English and Maths.
Amongst these results, some pupils achieved a particularly outstanding set of grades. 32 pupils each gained ten or more GCSE at grades A/A* or equivalent.
