Safer Internet Day

Yesterday, Tuesday 9th February, was Safer Internet Day. Partly in recognition of this but, mainly to promote awareness amongst our students, Year 10 Citizenship was devoted to a watching of the BBC 3 film “Murder Games”. This 1 hour film is chilling in its’ horrible normality, fronting a cold and deliberate grooming and murder.

We would like to urge parents to watch this and to encourage their sons and daughters to watch it with them. There are no magical solutions but hopefully this will help to raise awareness of just how every young person is potentially vulnerable. The only sure way a young person can protect themselves is to never meet up with someone in person who they have only previously met on line without adult supervision, preferably a parent.
