The Year 7 forms have each spent half a day visiting three sites along the River Churn. The first site is near to the source of the River Churn, a tributary of the River Thames, near Severn Springs. The second site is close to the village of North Cerney. Our final site is at Stratton Mill, on the outskirts of Cirencester. These three sites help to show some of the changes we expect to see along a river as you move downstream. The boys were able to collect a range of primary data; width and depth of the channel, size and gradient of the valley, velocity, size/shape of bedload, and land use. In most cases, they were also able to complete annotated field sketches.......weather permitting!
