Parents' Association Home
Welcome to the Parents' Association section of the STRS website. All parents, carers and guardians of present and past pupils of the school are automatically members of the Parents' Association. As PA committee members, we are all volunteers who support the school in a whole range of activities. These include managing the uniform shop, coordinating and providing refreshments and organising fundraising events.
The activities that we organise and the funds that we raise for the school are all dependent upon each of us as parents volunteering to provide the help requested. If you would like to help the school by getting involved in the Parents' Association in any way, please email the Chair on PAChair@strs.org.uk who will advise you further.

Year 7 Uniform Collection Morning
On Saturday 30th June, the new intake of Year 7 students came to meet their form tutors, classmates and collect their uniforms. It was a very busy morning once again for the PA and Uniform shop volunteers who had come early to school to set up for uniform sales and prepare refreshments for all the guests before the main event of handing out uniforms and selling hot food and drink.
A hundred and fifty new students were expected together with some of their family, a whole class more than in previous years! The continuing warm weather definitely helped keep the mood buoyant as the PA volunteers worked very hard to be welcoming and ensure that new parents/carers went away satisfied with their uniform orders, and sated with food and drink!
THANK YOU so much to all who played a part in running the Year 7 collection morning, some of whom had been busy organising the event in the run up to the day itself! It was well run according to feedback received, and the uniform shop queue moved along at a steady pace.
All the profits made from refreshment and uniform clothing sales will go towards supporting the school. If you would like to learn more about how last year’s PA fundraising activities helped the school and what’s in store for the next year’s line-up in case you’d like to support any event, please Save the Date 09.10.18 and come to the PA AGM, school staff room at 19:30 hours.
Silent Auction - Successful Bids
The PA committee are pleased to confirm the successful bids for the silent auction items:
- 21 year old single malt whisky £90
- Afternoon tea at the Waldorf Hotel £150
- Montpelier Wine Bar meal £110
- Cinema sound box system £110
- Houses of Parliament tour £303
- Wine-tasting tour and 6 bottles of selected wine £180

A huge thank you to all who participated and for the very generous prize donations offered. Together with gift aid that we are able to claim on certain items, the profit from this activity is just over £1,300 which is an excellent contribution to PA funds. These funds will be used to support the School Development Fund following discussion with the Headmaster and the Director of Development.
STRS Parents’ Association hosted another popular Quiz & Pudding Evening
The Quiz & Pudding night on 18th November was a great success, equally enjoyable for the organisers and participants! It was a cold and wet night but about 120 tickets were sold and no one was about to let the weather dampen their spirits!
Thank you to all the school staff and PA helpers who transformed the hall and canteen in a jiffy. By the time people started arriving, the posters for the picture rounds were all up on the walls, the canteen tables had been arranged with some edible goodies and the drinks bar was ready for orders.
There was a virtual patisserie of donations from generous parents on the night – sponge cake, Swiss roll, sandwich cookies, rocky road, cheesecake, tart Tatin, tray bake, fudge cake, crumble, eclairs amongst others, and a gluten free dessert to boot. At one point it was drink that was in danger of being in short supply, rather than the food! All in all, the Quiz & Pudding night yielded a profit of £1,220.45 to be allocated towards the purchase of a much needed replacement school mini bus. Thank you again to everyone for supporting this excellent and fun evening.
