Dear Parents and Carers,

Your Parents' Association will be holding its' Annual General Meeting in the School Staff Room on Tuesday 7 th November commencing at 7.30pm. During the meeting those present will have the opportunity to review the activities of the last year and to elect the Officers of the Committee. The elected positions are Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer and Secretary in addition to four Trustees from across the year groups. I welcome any parent who is interested in standing for one of these roles to contact me by e-mail to register your interest and for more information. The AGM will be followed immediately by a Committee meeting.

All parents are warmly invited to attend any of our Committee meetings/General Meetings. Agendas for these meetings will be sent out by email in the next couple of days and will be added to the PA section of the School website

We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday 7 November

Corinne Goatley
Chair of Parents' Association STRS

Welcome to the Parents' Association section of the STRS website. All parents, carers and guardians of present and past pupils of the school are automatically members of the Parents' Association. As PA committee members, we are all volunteers who support the school in a whole range of activities. These include managing the uniform shop, coordinating and providing refreshments and organising fundraising events.

The activities that we organise and the funds that we raise for the school are all dependent upon each of us as parents volunteering to provide the help requested. If you would like to help the school by getting involved in the Parents' Association in any way, please email Jane (PA secretary) on the email address shown who will advise you further.

For more information about the activities we are involved in, click the associated link below or the menu bar:

We look forward to seeing you at future events.

Easter Hamper Raffle

Another successful fundraising activity thanks to everyone who kindly helped in one way or the other; donated wonderful prizes, organised the beautifully presented hampers, put up posters to generate interest and of course, bought tickets! The hampers were stocked with a variety of luxury items; chocolates, honey, biscuits, cordials, bathing products, beauty treatment vouchers and much more. Food and drink were locally sourced where possible.

A total of £1,124 was raised from ticket sales; your continuing effort in supporting PA fundraisers during these financially challenging times is very much appreciated!

The winners of the 3 hampers were:
First prize - the Burley family
Second prize - the Jordan family
Third prize - the Greenleaf family

Silent Auction - Successful Bids

The PA committee are pleased to confirm the successful bids for the silent auction items:

  • 21 year old single malt whisky £90
  • Afternoon tea at the Waldorf Hotel £150
  • Montpelier Wine Bar meal £110
  • Cinema sound box system £110
  • Houses of Parliament tour £303
  • Wine-tasting tour and 6 bottles of selected wine £180
  • Bose speaker system £75
  • Motorsport racing day £150

A huge thank you to all who participated and for the very generous prize donations offered. Together with gift aid that we are able to claim on certain items, the profit from this activity is just over £1,300 which is an excellent contribution to PA funds. These funds will be used to support the School Development Fund following discussion with the Headmaster and the Director of Development.

STRS Parents’ Association hosted another popular Quiz & Pudding Evening

The Quiz & Pudding night on 18th November was a great success, equally enjoyable for the organisers and participants! It was a cold and wet night but about 120 tickets were sold and no one was about to let the weather dampen their spirits!

Thank you to all the school staff and PA helpers who transformed the hall and canteen in a jiffy. By the time people started arriving, the posters for the picture rounds were all up on the walls, the canteen tables had been arranged with some edible goodies and the drinks bar was ready for orders.

There was a virtual patisserie of donations from generous parents on the night – sponge cake, Swiss roll, sandwich cookies, rocky road, cheesecake, tart Tatin, tray bake, fudge cake, crumble, eclairs amongst others, and a gluten free dessert to boot. At one point it was drink that was in danger of being in short supply, rather than the food! All in all, the Quiz & Pudding night yielded a profit of £1,220.45 to be allocated towards the purchase of a much needed replacement school mini bus. Thank you again to everyone for supporting this excellent and fun evening.
