Years 7 and 8 had a real treat this morning when Steve Cole came to visit. In a lively one hour presentation, he talked about retro gadgets and inventions and linked them to Ian Fleming and James Bond. Steve has had a career spanning twenty years and has enjoyed developing as a writer. The series he was promoting today is the Young Bond series which was commissioned by Ian Fleming Heritage. Steve has written his last book in the four part series, but he does not rule out writing another one at some time in the future. He had come fresh from the Hay Literature Festival and was welcomed by the boys, who showed great interest and asked some challenging, but interesting, questions at the end. Boys had opportunities to buy books and to meet the author who signed them and gave his time generously. We now have all of the books in the series in the LRC and look forward to lending them! By chance, the third book in the series, is already on our Blue Coat Award shortlist. Perhaps this visit will influence the voting in his favour?
