Welcome
Sir Thomas Rich’s is a highly successful, caring and forward-thinking school, which aims to prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of the future. We pride ourselves on the pursuit of excellence inside and outside the classroom. Founded in 1666, we are an academically selective school in the City of Gloucester, admitting 150 boys into Year 7, with a large, vibrant coeducational Sixth Form. Our school ethos prioritises high standards, bespoke support and personal development, whilst encouraging students to take full advantage of the many extracurricular opportunities on offer. To be a Richian is to value the pursuit of knowledge and lifelong learning, whilst understanding that success is measured not only by our academic achievements and nationally recognised extracurricular accomplishments, but also by our strength of character. Kindness, being supportive of each other, displaying exceptional behaviour and wearing the uniform with pride are just a few of the ways in which we measure ourselves against our School aims. Indeed, the Tommy’s Way is to appreciate that teamwork, communication, and respect for others are just as important as the core knowledge and skills students develop through our carefully sequenced subject curricula.
Whilst we ensure our students have access to the latest educational developments, we remain proud of our longstanding heritage and traditions, such as our blue blazers, formal school assemblies, school prizes, and the House competition. These traditions are underpinned by the School motto, Garde Ta Foy, written in Old French, meaning Keep the Faith. I hope our website gives you an insight into life at Sir Thomas Rich’s, and would encourage those who wish to know more about our School to come and visit us – we look forward to welcoming you.

Visting Us
We welcome visitors to Sir Thomas Rich's School. Our opening hours are between 8.25am and 4.15pm.
Sir Thomas Rich's is located in Longlevens, on the eastern edge of Gloucester. Access from the M5 and Cheltenham is excellent, as we are less than a mile from the Golden Valley by-pass. Journey time from the M5 is less than ten minutes.
From junction 11 of the M5 head towards Gloucester. At the end of the dual carriageway, take the third turning off the roundabout onto Cheltenham Road. After 100 metres, turn left at the traffic lights into Nine Elms Road and follow this road round to the right. After half a mile (as the road bends left) turn left into Oakleaze. The school is on the left.
There are a limited number of parking spaces during the school day at the front of the school and reception is clearly signposted through the archway.
