Biology fieldwork day took place today and despite the occasional shower the students worked really well on learning a variety of ecological techniques. Fieldwork usually involves a trip to Slimbridge in Year 10, but this was postponed due to restrictions and fortunately there are a number of areas on the school site which are perfect for study. Students visited the school pond, which is located just behind the tennis courts, to identify indicator species, completed random sampling to look at the abundance of plants on the school field and a transect to look at the distribution of clover in relation to abiotic factors.
