Max Harper has achieved a Silver Award in the first round of the British Physics Olympiad competition, having excelled in the preliminary round. This involved him sitting two 80 minute papers which were then marked by the Olympiad team at Cambridge University. This places him in the top few hundred physicists of his age in the country, a tremendous achievement. As the organisers say “The paper was designed to stretch and challenge the top young physicists in the country”.
