Duke of Edinburgh Practice Expedition

Duke of Edinburgh Practice Expedition

Once again we defied all weather predictions. Yes I know, tempting fate. What was promising ice, snow and rain slowly reduced to cold and early Sunday morning rain forecast. In the end we had a lovely sunny evening and no rain until a few spots about 4.00pm on Sunday.

Important lessons were learnt on stamina, map reading (well I can hope), packing & weight and, particularly, time management. All who took part passed and are now beginning to prepare for their Assessed Expeditions in mid-June and early July.

As ever, we are indebted to the many staff, both teaching and admin as well as, this year, parents and past students. Several of our Year 13's also helped out at checkpoints on the Sunday. It is a real joy to witness how these young people are just on the cusp of adulthood and clearly ready to move on to the next stage of their lives. The contribution from Matt Lee, in his second year of medicine at Cardiff, reinforced what great young people graduate from Tommy's.

Thanks to all staff, students and parents for their contribution to a successful Practice Expedition
