Senior rugby players are running an Easter Rugby Camp for pupils in Years 7-10 to raise funds for their South Africa Rugby Tour in July. The Camp takes place at the School on Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 April, 9am-3pm, and the cost is just £15 for one day or £25 for two days. All funds raised from the camp will contribute towards the tour. Parents can log in via Parent Gateway to book a place and pay through ScoPay. Any questions, please email Director of Sport Mr Williams on [email protected].
The Camp is suitable for all abilities, and pupils don’t need to have represented the School’s rugby teams before. It's ideal for total beginners who wish to develop their knowledge and understanding of the sport, right through to more experienced players who are keen to refine their skills.
Senior rugby players will pass on expert advice and tips and create a fun and enjoyable environment. Members of school staff will be overseeing the Camp and will responsible for the safety and well-being of all pupils involved. Whilst developing their rugby skills on the pitch, pupils will learn how the senior rugby squads’ core values of Discipline, Honesty, Work Rate, and Humility have contributed to their successful season, finishing eighth in the country in the Daily Mail Trophy; the highest ranked state school. The aim is to provide core skill development such as passing, tackling, and kicking, whilst emphasising physical activity and the social opportunities taking part in team sports provides. Pupils can expect to cover content specific to their age group, ensuring the best possible chance of further personal development on and off the field.
Pupils can arrive from 8.30am and should bring rugby boots, weather appropriate rugby kit, a water bottle, gum shield and a packed lunch with snacks.
