European Day of Languages
Published Friday 25 September 2020 by SJV
Saturday 26 September is the European Day of Languages – to celebrate, students have been enjoying a few French, German and Spanish jokes in lessons today to keep them smiling. It may sound flippant, but whether you can tell or understand a joke in another language is a really good test of skills! The Council of Europe and the European Union celebrate linguistic diversity every year on 26 September, the objectives being to raise the profile of language learning, increase plurilingualism and intercultural understanding, encourage lifelong language learning and to promote the rich linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe. You can find out more at the official European Day of Languages website.
