FameLab STEM Talk Winners

Year 9 students gathered in the hall this morning to hear from the 10 FameLab finalists, who all gave their talks in front of the judges. A winner and two runners up were selected by the judges, with the winner going on to represent Rich's at the Gloucestershire FameLab finals at Dean Close School in March. The students each prepared a three-minute talk on a STEM topic and were then grilled by the judges. There were some fantastic presentations, which the students had spent a great deal of time and effort planning, and the judges had real difficulty choosing a winner. The contestants benefitted from mentoring by Grace (a former Gloucestershire finalist herself), Dan and Wolfgang in Year 12, who were all very proud of how well their students fared. The results are:
Winner
Aditya - Bacteriophages
Runners up
Harry Y - How do geckos defy gravity?
Ben W - Why we sleep
A huge well done to the other seven finalists as well for their impressive talks:
Natty - Alien civilizations
Conor - How will the universe end?
Ubaid - Are humans selfish?
Ashwin - How does reality work?
Owen - Downs syndrome
Monty - Why do teenagers stay up late?
William T - How do planes fly?
