Geography Fieldwork Returns!

Geography fieldwork returned on Monday with the easing of restrictions, something that’s been much missed by both staff and students. During a substantial hike through the local area, Year 12 students were measuring infiltration into soils, examining flood water storage and conservation at the Horsbere lake, measuring river discharge on the Horsbere brook, field sketching from a very muddy Chosen Hill and applying various human geography techniques in Churchdown Village, assessing settlement change in housing provision and services. This work will help students design their own personal data collection strategies for their chosen individual fieldwork project, which accounts for 20% of their A Level and will see them independently collecting data in the summer holidays.
