International Food Competition

This year the Languages and Geography departments worked together to organise an International Food Competition. It was the initiative of the year 9 Language Ambassadors whose role is to promote languages and internationalism. The competition was keenly contested. The food was beautifully cooked and presented and students had gone to considerable lengths to research their dishes. Food from Italy, Spain, Hungary, Indonesia, Japan, Morocco, Thailand, England and Germany was represented. A friendly, cooperative atmosphere prevailed amongst the various countries, a shining example of intercultural harmony. The event attracted high calibre judges renowned for their appreciation of international cuisine - Mr Morgan, Miss Brake, Mr Daniell, Mrs Spilsbury, Miss Stroud and ambassadors Alfie Harrison and Waleed Haq.
All teams were praised for the high quality of their presentations and it was a pity that they could not all be winners. Congratulations, however, to 8R who scooped the top prizes.
First place was awarded to Japan, second place to Indonesia and joint third to Hungary and Italy.
