Year 9 student Jago is a keen kickboxer and for the last year has been representing his club, Epic Martial Arts & Fitness, nationally in his age group, at both national and international level. On 16-17 September Jago competed in the GB Grandslam at the University of Birmingham, where he claimed gold medals fighting in the -42kg light contact and points fighting categories. At the end of September Jago then competed at the Italian World Cup in Jesolo, Italy, where he was fighting some of the most elite fighters in his age group from around the world. Jago narrowly missed out on a podium placing, coming 5th in all disciplines in which he competed (kick light, light contact and points) but gaining some very valuable experience. On the weekend of 14-15 October he was competing at the Bristol Open International, where he achieved a bronze medal in light contact fighting (-37kg) and a gold medal in -37kg points. Jago will be competing at the British Championships in February. Well done Jago - your school is very proud of you!
