National Poetry Day

National Poetry Day was celebrated across the school on the 6th of October. Staff shared their love of poetry with their classes and read the work of poets such as Coleridge and Walter de la Mare.
Miss Thackway, English department, co-ordinated the day and worked with Ms Cordall, the librarian who liaised with other librarians to share some of our pupils' work on the theme of Messages.
Here are two of the messages that Year 9 pupils would choose to place in a time capsule:
“Time is powerful
It sometimes goes too slow or too quickly
Make sure you use it wisely and carefully
Either you will waste it, or treasure it. The choice is yours!"
“To the finder of this poem
Imagine sleeping in pitch dark
Mainly with a spark
Every night of the week, waiting to be unfurled."
