Netball This Year

This year’s Netball First Team has been the strongest Sir Thomas Rich’s has had, which has meant more competitive fixtures against schools such as Badminton and Millfield. Coaches Mrs Brown and Mrs Lynn would like to thank all the players across all the teams for their hard work this year:

“Well done to the School netball players this season who have played 19 fixtures against local schools and colleges. Unfortunately, our season was cut short and our tour to Malta at Easter was cancelled due to the pandemic. We are sorry that our Year 13s have missed out on this fantastic opportunity and a particular thanks goes to Lucy Griffin and Jess Bedwell for helping us to organise fundraising events for tour kit.

“We have had a lot of success this season, winning games against The Crypt School, Farmors, Stroud High, Cleeve School, Denmark, Hartpury College 4th team and Pates. Our First Team are the strongest team we’ve had at Rich’s, which has enabled us to play more competitive fixtures against schools such as Badminton and Millfield.

“We entered the Sisters n Sport National Cup for the first time; narrowly losing to Badminton school by just four goals. We also played many competitive games at the U19s county tournament; we were unfortunately knocked out in the semi-finals by Hartpury College, who went on to win overall.

“Thank you to Jess Bedwell in Year 13 for being a very good First Team Captain and to Lucy Griffin for supporting as Vice-Captain this season; helping us to organise the teams, fundraise for the tour and lead training.

“We look forward to getting back on court as soon as possible. Thank you to Harriet Jones and Georgia Lamb for taking on the roles of captain/vice-captain for the 2020-2021 season.”
