Sir Thomas Rich’s warmly invites Year 11 boys and girls, and their families, to join staff and students for its online Sixth Form Open Evening on Thursday 4 February, from 7pm. To register visit www.strschool.co.uk/admissions/sixth-form-open-evening.
As one of the highest attaining schools in the county and the UK, Rich’s attracts high-ability students who work hard and aspire to achieve the best results they can. The school also recognises that attainment is nothing without a firm commitment to the health and well-being of students, and works hard to ensure that students are treated as individuals and thrive in an atmosphere of respect, care and support.
“Every member of our teaching and support staff strives to ensure that each pupil feels like a valued member of the Rich’s community,” says the Headmaster, Mr Matthew Morgan. “Our Sixth Form students also have access to an unparalleled range of extracurricular activities and trips, which we fully intend to return to as soon as soon as the public health crisis allows. We are the only Sixth Form in the area to offer a regular girls’ overseas netball tour, for example, and our extracurricular offer ranges from UK-wide field trips to overseas expeditions that have included Normandy, The Rhineland, Madrid, Sicily, Washington DC, New York, Göttingen and the Eastern Pyrenees in the recent past.
“Preparing our Year 12 and 13 students for life after school is of course core to our work,” Mr Morgan continues, “and we are proud of the multi-strand programme of careers advice and higher education planning we put in place throughout students’ time in the Sixth Form; including one-to-one careers support, conferences, interview practice and an impressive line-up of visiting speakers from universities. Indeed, we were very pleased and proud to have our outstanding careers provision recognised when we were awarded the prestigious ‘Quality In Careers Standard’ last February.”
Virtual Open Evening 4 February
The event on 4 February provides an opportunity for Year 11 girls and boys from any school to find out more about Rich’s modern Sixth Form facilities, the A Level courses on offer, careers support, extracurricular opportunities and to speak with teachers and current Year 12 and 13 pupils about life at the school.
Copies of the latest Sixth Form Prospectus – detailing all the A Level courses on offer at Sir Thomas Rich’s and entry requirements – will be available to download on the night.
Online application for 2021 Sixth Form entry will be available on the school’s website from the start of February at www.strschool.co.uk/sixthform.
