Success for STRS linguists

On Friday 28th March, Mr Reece took five boys from STRS to GCHQ to take part in the Finals of the GCHQ Language Challenge. This is a new initiative by GCHQ and the ALL (Association of Language Learning) to inspire young people to embrace language learning. The boys were very excited to have reached this stage. With their presentation on Majorca they had already won their class competition and then the school finals. This in itself was not sufficient to allow them to progress to the Finals at GCHQ. From all the entries in the South West only ten schools were selected for the final competition.
The opportunity to see GCHQ, hear about the work they do and enjoy some taster lessons in a less commonly taught language was reward enough for the boys. However, their hard work and enthusiasm paid off and they walked away with first place.
Congratulations to the 9B team!
