Successful end of term for senior mathematicians

The senior mathematicians have enjoyed a successful end of term having gained their Senior Mathemathics Challenge results. Over 87% of the entrants gained an award in the national competition, run by the University of Leeds.

Luke Goscomb achieved the highest result and therefore qualified for the follow on round, the Senior Mathematics Kangaroo competition. This pitted him against some of the best mathematicians in the UK. Luke faired well, finishing in the top 25%, being awarded a merit for his performance. Congratulations to him.

As a department we were also thankful to two former pupils, Matthew Cox and Adam Robson, for coming in to School to talk to some of our Y12 students. They spoke wonderfully about applying to study Mathematics at the top Universities in England, as well as their early experiences from their time at Birmingham and Warwick. It was an enriching experience for our current pupils. The boys then enjoyed catching up with their former teachers
