On Friday 6th March, a team of 4 of Rich's best young mathematicians, along with Mr Robson, went to Wycliffe College for the UKMT's Junior Team Maths Challenge. 25 schools from Gloucestershire and Worcestershire sent teams.
The Rich's team did very well in round 1, even though rather unfortunately we got the 1st question wrong, and round 2. We were in the top 5 places at lunchtime. However, a poor round 3 ended our challenge for the top spot, before a strong round 4 resulted in a pleasing 7th place finish. Cheltenham Ladies College came 1st and Kings Worcester were 2nd.
The event stretched everyone's mathematics to the limit, and it made a change from normal lessons. Joe Hocking (9R) found the event “interesting and challenging", and Nathan Ellam (8B) found it “fun and very enjoyable". The other team members were Ben Woodward (8T) and myself. The questions ranged from algebra to factors, to probability and shape.
