Robert Christie, in Year 11, recently competed in the South West Powerlifting championships. Having trained in this discipline now for a couple of years, Robert is showing real promise and talent. During the championships held last weekend Robert ended up winning the Under 18 competition in all three disciplines of squat, bench press and dead lift, finishing in the top 10 overall in the mens category. In fact he set age group records in each area. Not bad for a 16 year old.
Due to Robert’s success he will now go on to compete in the English Championships from 25th-28th May, in the middle of his GCSEs, where he is one of the favourites to win. We wish him the best of luck for this and look forward to hearing how well he does.
For information here are the records he set last weekend: Squat - 186 kg Bench Press - 115kg Dead lift - 202.5 kg
