Bishop of Gloucester Event

Yesterday, some of our pupils had the honour of participating in an important online event with the Right Reverend Rachel Treweek, Bishop of Gloucester, who is the Anglican Bishop for Prisons. Bishop Rachel is keen to hear directly from young people about the purpose of prisons and ideas to build safer, stronger communities. As part of this initiative, she is gathering views from students across Gloucestershire to inform a report for Government later this year. Our school was invited to nominate five Year 10 pupils with an interest in criminology, law or politics, who then took part in a live Zoom discussion. The event allowed our students to share their perspectives on key questions such as:
- What is prison for?
- How can we reduce reoffending and overcrowding in prisons?
- What changes would make our local communities safer?
We look forward to seeing how the voices of our young people will help shape the future of the criminal justice system.
