Eight language students from year 12 had the unique opportunity on Wednesday to attend a careers event at Bath University on Interpreting and Translating. They were privileged to hear three high profile speakers, Dr Svetlana Carsten, a practising interpreter and trainer, Dr Steve Slade, Head of English translation at the International Court of Justice and Matthias Postel from the Chartered Institute of Linguists. The day culminated in a visit to the state-of-the-art interpreting laboratories and the opportunity to try for themselves the skill of simultaneous interpreting.
