Chess - National Schools U-19 Finals

The STRS chess team is presently competing in the ECF Schools National U-19 Finals, a 2 day competition for the top 16 schools in the country. After 2 hard-fought matches we find ourselves with one win and one loss, putting us through to the last 4 in the Plate competition.
We lost to last year's champions Reading School in round 1, but then had a comfortable 5-1 victory over QEH Bristol in round 2.
The team are playing some great chess and are enjoying competing with the best schools in the country. I fact, we have just finished playing in the optional fun blitz team competition where the 6 boys were joined by Mr Swann and Mr Robson - were Tommies surprised everyone by coming first!
The serious chess starts again tomorrow morning with a tough match against Haberdashers Aske's School.
