Chess Team Win League

The Rich’s Chess team has won Division 2 of the North Gloucestershire (adult) Chess League. This comes after victory over Forest of Dean Chess Club on Monday (yes, we even play during the Easter holidays!) where the team played very well to beat what was described as the ‘strongest possible Forest team’. Jonathan Sullivan scored a very important win on board 5. We are now 4 points clear at the top of the league with 1 match to play.
Last year we won Division 3, so being crowned Division 2 winners is a big step up. We have topped a league table containing the likes of Gloucester 2nd team and Cirencester 1st team. Our record this season in the league is won 8, drawn 3, lost none.
Congratulations go to the squad: Mr Swann, Michael and Robert Ashworth, Anthony Ifeacho, Danny Howlett, Matthew Munden, George Hawthorne, Adam Schonbeck and Jonathan Sullivan.
