Eco Club Climate Conference

A delegation of four students from the Eco Club attended the Gloucestershire Schools Climate Conference in Cheltenham last week. The team represented Bangladesh; a country severely affected by the climate crisis, in particular rising sea levels and extreme weather events. Along with 14 other local schools they enacted a mock version of the international climate conference (COP 30) which took place in Brazil last week. Pupils delivered an opening speech, and then took part in various rounds of debate, forming an alliance with other Global South countries. During lunch the team had the chance to learn about local climate projects, and then heard from a panel including former Cheltenham MP Martin Horwood.
