Eco Club Plant 30 Trees

Eco Club members recently planted a 'mini forest' on the school field. Adopting the Miyawaki method – named after a prominent Japanese ecologist – the group planted 30 trees in a dense formation beside the tennis courts. This technique should prompt vigorous growth in the saplings and boost their potential to take in atmospheric carbon, as well as offering shelter and food to wildlife. The group planted a mixture of Rowan, Wild Cherry, and Silver Birch trees in small teams. We look forward to further planting adventures in the spring, when more hedgerow trees are due to arrive.
