Earlier this year, Edward in Year 10 (pictured second from left) earned a place at the prestigious residential summer school run by the National Children's Brass Band of Great Britain. The course brought together around sixty of the most talented young brass and percussion musicians (aged 14 and under) from across the UK for a week of intensive rehearsals and tutorials, held at Oundle School near Peterborough.
At the start of the week, students took part in further auditions to determine their positions within the band. We are delighted to share that Edward was appointed Principal Percussionist: A performance showcasing the week’s work concluded the course and will soon be available to watch on YouTube.
Edward also wrote a reflective report on his experience, which was published on the Gloucestershire Brass Band Association website.
His appointment and achievements during the course were also recognised in a feature by 4BarsRest, a leading brass band news site.
This opportunity allowed Edward to develop his musical skills under the guidance of expert tutors and to perform alongside some of the most promising young brass musicians in the country.
We are extremely proud of Edward’s achievement. Opportunities such as this not only reflect his personal commitment, but also the strength of musical education and support offered here at school.
