European Day of Languages

On 26th September the school celebrated the European Day of Languages. It was a day to raise awareness of the range and diversity of languages in the world. It is humbling to think that English is just one of 6,000 living languages in the world today. Quizzes replaced traditional language lessons, a psychology lesson was taught in Spanish and year 7 students tested their skills in a foreign language spelling bee challenge. A favourite event was the “Who wants to be a millionaire competition” organised by year 9 Language Ambassadors. Even the canteen staff entered into the celebrations with an international menu and colourful bunting.
