Exmoor Gold and Silver Practice Expedition

Fifteen Year twelve students and six Year eleven and twelve students successfully completed their Gold and Silver Expeditions last week in Exmoor. The weather wasn’t brilliant but no really heavy sustained rain and not too hot for walking either. The members of the Silver group were collected from Taunton station on the second day to start their three day expedition. Two students had only returned from Sicily the night before but all coped well.
This year for the first time, the Gold groups were able to wild camp for one of their nights. Despite lack of any facilities all three groups embraced and enjoyed the experience.
Preparations are now underway for their Assessed Expedition taking place in the Brecon Beacons over the last weekend of September.
A number of the students have their other activities, including Residential for Gold, well in hand. Hopefully a number of them will be in a position to receive their awards before completing Year thirteen.
Equipment has been safely returned and our lawn temporarily looked like an invasion of strange green helmet crabs.
Well done to all.
