Extracurricular Music Relaunches 11 November

The Music Department is delighted to offer students a return to collective music making and ensemble playing from 11 November, and we look forward to inviting parents and the wider school community to see the results of the online rehearsals at our virtual Christmas concert in December.

Since September we’ve been unable to offer our usual lunchtime and after-school extracurricular activities due to the system of controls that we have had to put in place to minimise infection and the nationwide restrictions to singing, brass and woodwind playing. We know this has been very much missed by staff and students alike, and we’re pleased that after half-term we will be able to offer online rehearsals for at least one instrumental and one vocal ensemble rehearsal by Zoom each week, to give students the opportunity to experience ensemble playing again, safely from their own homes whilst rehearsing online with their peers.

Each online rehearsal session will last one hour on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6-7pm. One rehearsal will be for instrumentalists and one rehearsal will be for singers, to be confirmed once we know students’ availability (Head of Music Mrs Jones has written to students and parents with an online form to complete).

We look forward to seeing – and hearing – as many students as possible in rehearsals from 11 November!
