Fairtrade Fiesta

Thirteen of our Year 9 Spanish students travelled to King Edward’s IV Handsworth School for Girls in Birmingham this week to take part in the inaugural 'Fairtrade Fiesta'. The event is aimed at promoting languages and business to pupils from across the region, and was a great opportunity for our Spanish students to put their skills to use; with tasks including researching a South American country, designing a fairtrade product to sell in shops, completing market research in Spanish on members of the public, and using their language to buy materials with which to make the products. Pupils were then asked to promote their products to the other teams, and buy other teams’ products to stock in their shop.

We are extremely proud of all the Rich’s students, who were excellent ambassadors for the School: Matias A, Tadeo A, Edward B, Thomas G, Theo G, Kshitij H, Angus H, Zachary M, Josh N, Ajay P, Saif U, and Lucan W. A special mention goes to Tadeo, who won a prize for excellent communication during the team’s interview with the shop owner to promote their product.
