FameLab STEM Competition

FameLab STEM Competition

Alfie in Year 9 took part in the FameLab Academy Final last week, a major STEM competition organised annually by Cheltenham Festivals. He gave an engaging and entertaining talk on stage at the Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury on ‘A Tyrant’s Family Tree’ and answered the judges’ questions clearly and confidently. In the competition, Year 9 students, supported by their teachers and a STEM mentor from the world of academia or industry, prepare three-minute presentations to explain a scientific topic in a dynamic and engaging way to a panel of judges. They are marked on content, clarity and charisma. While Alfie may have just missed out on the winner’s trophy, his presentation was excellent and he represented the School extremely well. Alfie was supported at the Final by the nine Rich’s students who took part in the previous round at STRS. During the interval, STRS pupil Ed even won the Kahoot audience competition. Well done to all those pupils (Alfie, Theo, Rafa, Alex, Ed, Musab, Jovin, Joe, Martim and Oli) who took part in the FameLab competition this year, the standard of entries has been exceptional.
