Gloucester Royal Hospital Bright Ideas Competition

Our Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 pupils are busy redesigning the Children’s Centre at Gloucester Royal Hospital. Claire Powell is the Matron of the Children’s Centre, which provides care for children and young people who require hospital admission in Gloucestershire. The Children’s Centre was opened back in 2005, and Claire is now looking to refresh it by giving it a new identity and rebrand.

Claire would love for our pupils to get creative and share their design ideas with the Hospital!

She has tasked our pupils with identifying the following:

  • A theme for the centre, eg outer space, under the sea. Once they have identified their theme they would like to see how they would incorporate this across the unit, including naming 3 nurses’ stations and decorating the walls, curtains and cubicles.
  • Food choices when in hospital, eg design a menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
  • Staff uniforms, eg based on their identified theme, what would they like to see staff wearing, please remember the uniforms need to be practical too!

Our pupils have been given the design worksheet today and the closing date for the competition is Friday 24 July 2020.

We cannot wait to see their designs. Once the closing date has passed, we will share our pupils' designs via the news area of the School website and on our social media accounts.

We wonder what the winning design will look like? Watch this space.
