Pupils from the Rich’s Growing and Gardening Club held a charity vegetable stall at Sports Evening earlier in July, raising a tremendous £206.50 for charity. They sold new potatoes, broad beans, courgettes, salad, and flower bouquets – all of which they had grown themselves in the school garden!

The group also sold a variety of plug plants provided by Project Grow, a not-for-profit CIC who run the community garden at Gloucestershire Heritage Hub in Kingsholm, as well as other urban growing sites around the city.

Of the £206.50 raised, £126.50 will be donated to GARAS (Gloucestershire Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers), who do vital work supporting vulnerable new members of our community. The remaining £80 will go to Project Grow to support their work with schools and communities in Gloucester.
