Sir Thomas Rich’s underwent a routine two-day Ofsted inspection on 6-7 October 2021, and the Overall Effectiveness of the School has been judged as ‘Good’ as a result.
Headmaster, Matthew Morgan has commented:
“We were pleased to welcome four Ofsted Inspectors to the School in October, and to have the opportunity to showcase the ethos and values of Sir Thomas Rich’s. I am extremely proud of the way in which the school community responded to the challenge of a demanding inspection so early in the academic year, following 18 months of significant disruption caused by the pandemic.”
“I am particularly pleased that inspectors highlighted the School’s excellent pastoral care and breadth of extracurricular provision. It was reassuring to hear that inspectors found that pupils are happy at school; they feel safe and their behaviour is impeccable.”
Ofsted has stated:
“Pupils are very happy in the school. They feel a huge sense of loyalty. Those who join the school in the sixth form say the same. Every pupil wears the badge with pride. Pupils feel safe and say that they can go to anyone in the school if they have concerns. Leaders have very high expectations of pupils to which they respond willingly. Behaviour is impeccable. Led by the headteacher, there is a culture of respect that permeates the school.”
Chair of the Trustees Mr Roger Ogle has said:
“The Education Inspection Framework introduced by Ofsted in 2019 is exceptionally rigorous. Our focus as a school continues to be on the highest standards of teaching and pastoral care for all students, while maintaining access to as wide a range of enrichment and extracurricular opportunities as possible. I have the utmost confidence in the dedicated and hardworking Senior Leadership Team and all the staff at Sir Thomas Rich’s in taking the recommendations forward.”
