Remembrance Service

Remembrance Service

Published Tuesday 11 November 2025 by SJV

This morning, our entire School community came together outside to honour all those who have lost their lives in war and conflict, to reflect on those whose lives continue to be affected by the impact of war, and to pay tribute to the former students and staff of Sir Thomas Rich’s who have fallen in service. Members of the Cadet Forces and Scouts carried the flag, while the School Captains laid a wreath at the School War Memorial. The School observed two minutes of silence in respectful remembrance and the service concluded with a prayer led by Headteacher Mr Lynch, after which the School community joined together in singing the National Anthem. The procession leaving the tennis courts was accompanied by Abide With Me, performed by the Brass Ensemble.

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them."

Robert Laurence Binyon (1869-1943), published in The Times newspaper on 21 September 1914.
