Congratulations to members of the Senior Debate Team who won the first round of the English Speaking Union Debates on Thursday, competing against four other schools in the main hall. The team put in an excellent performance, proposing the motion: “The house would introduce a four-day school week”. Their group will now progress to the next round in January.

A special mention to closing speaker Archie, who was widely complimented on his performance by other schools in attendance. Year 11 pupil Stan mediated the debates, and did an excellent job of introducing each speaker, fielding questions to the teams and officiating the event in a professional way.

Our Debate Society continues to grow with over 40 regular members. New members are always welcome, the Society runs every Thursday lunchtime in V9 with Mrs Harris, and further competition opportunities will be offered later in the year.
