The Senior House Public Speaking Competition this week showcased an exceptional standard of oracy and rhetorical skill. Students demonstrated confident delivery and well structured arguments. This year’s topics included ‘Should we abolish prisons as punishment for non violent crimes?’, ‘In what situation is lying a good idea?’ and ‘Should homework be abolished?’. Speakers approached these topics with maturity, thoughtful engagement and humour. The judging panel would particularly like to commend Northgate, whose resilience was greatly admired.
