The Equestrian Team had a successful outing to the Dean Close Inter-Schools Show Jumping Qualifier at Rectory Farm, on Sunday 28th June 2015.
Jack Smith, riding Monkey Munchkin, jumped a remarkable clear round in the 1.10m individual competition securing second place and qualifying for the National Championships at Addington Manor, Buckinghamshire in October.
Jack and Joshua Smith also competed in the 1m individual class. Joshua and his pony Ballinamurra Captain put in a great effort, but were unlucky to have a pole down in the combination. Jack, jumping 53rd in a class of 55 competitors, had no option but to put the pressure on. He rode the fastest round of the class but was unfortunate to have a pole down.
Tom Woodward joined Joshua in the 90/95cm class. Joshua jumped an elegant clear round with Ballinamurra Captain, but their time was just outside of the individual placing. Tom riding his new pony, Ger Lad, put in a gallant effort but unfortunately knocked a pole resulting in four faults.
In the 80/85cm class, Tom and Amber Stevens, riding Emlaughmore Playboy, were unfortunate to each have a pole down, keeping them out of the ribbons this time.
