The musical of The Commitments is based on Roddy Doyle's 1987 novel of the same name. The story follows Jimmy Rabbitte, a young music fanatic living in Dublin, who assembles a group of young people to form a soul band named "The Commitments."
Years Ten to Thirteen, accompanied by Mr Parker, Mr Lloyd, Mrs Bain, Mrs Saunders and Mrs Spilsbury rocked in the aisles of Bristol Hippodrome on February 23rd to tracks such as "River Deep, Mountain High" and "Knock on Wood." The evening was a celebration of soul and we left the theatre with "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" still ringing in our ears.
