We are incredibly proud of Toby H from 9B, who won the prestigious FameLab Academy Gloucestershire final this week at the Rose’s Theatre in Tewkesbury! His talk explored the mathematics of Rubik’s cubes, and he also solved one live on stage in front of a large audience. Toby answered the judges’ questions confidently and impressed them with the clarity and delivery of his presentation. FameLab Academy talks are judged on content, clarity and charisma, and Toby demonstrated all three.

It was an extremely tough competition against schools from across Gloucestershire, and Toby was cheered on by the pupils who took part in the STRS round of the competition.

FameLab Academy, run by Cheltenham Festivals, is an annual science communication competition for Year 9 students. Pupils give a three-minute talk explaining a science or maths idea in a clear, engaging way, and are judged on content, clarity and charisma.

The programme helps students build confidence, communication skills and enthusiasm for STEM, encouraging them to explore scientific ideas and share them with an audience.

As well as Toby being awarded his own trophy - long with several other prizes - the School was awarded a plaque to celebrate his achievement, which we intend to have engraved with his name and put on display in the school.
