The Under 14 Hockey squad finished their season today by taking part in the County Hockey tournament, held at Cheltenham College. They played six fixtures, each of length 18 minutes against the top schools in the local area.
In their opening fixture against King's School Gloucester it finished 0-0 where opening match cobwebs were visible. Following that, back to back victories against Rendcomb College and St Edward's Cheltenham were well deserved, 2-0 and 3-0 respectively. Next up was a double header against the two favourites to proceed to the regional finals, Cheltenham College and Dean Close. In the first match, Sir Thomas Rich's pushed the hosts close, only conceding a goal with 2 minutes to go to lose 1-0. Dean Close were a completely different level however, dominating from start to finish, winning 5-0. With the opportunity to finish third by winning the final game against Katharine Lady Berkeley the boys just ran out of legs, drawing 2-2 meaning that 4th place was our final position.
All in all it was a fantastic effort from a small squad of players, ably captained by Matt Luxton. Harry Elliott top scored with 4 goals while Luxton, Tom Beer and Zac Castledine got the others.
