UKMT Team Maths Challenge

On Wednesday 26th March, four of our excellent mathematicians from years 8 and 9 competed in the regional finals of the UK Maths Trust Junior Maths Challenge. The boys involved were Jonathan Powell, Henry Parkinson (both Y8), Dan Parrott and Conor Howley (both Y9).
The day involved a series of challenges relying on teamwork, logical thought and communication. The events were tense, with time limits imposed and some answers relying on other members of the team getting their answers correct in order to tackle the next problem. The day culminated in a paired relay event with students racing against the other schools to complete some tricky problems in order to add to their points tally.
Our boys performed admirably amongst a strong field of schools and finished in 10th place overall out of 22 schools. Mr Jobson would like to thank those involved for representing the school in such a mature (yet competitive!) manner.
