We're recruiting for a teacher of Religious Studies (maternity cover) and a cover supervisor. For more details and to apply, visit the eteachwebsite.

Teacher of Religious Studies (maternity cover)

Religious Studies is taught throughout the age range, up to GCSE and A-Level, by a Department comprising four teachers who are committed to delivering an enjoyable yet challenging curriculum with a focus on academic excellence. At GCSE the School follows AQA Syllabus A, specifically examining Christianity and Islam, and the OCR H573 Syllabus with papers in Philosophy, Ethics and Development in Christian Thought is followed at A-Level. The Department has the advantage of teaching students who have a positive approach to their work and who are keen to participate in debate and to offer their own reasoned judgements in response to the material covered. The School's RS curriculum is frequently reviewed at KS3 to ensure pupils' interest is stimulated and enquiry is encouraged.

This full-time fixed term (up to one year) post is equally well-suited to an enthusiastic NQT with a thirst for learning and developing in their chosen career, or a more experienced teacher looking for opportunity. We remain dedicated to mentoring and supporting our staff; our extensive professional development programme will ensure that the successful candidate will get bespoke training and development. They should be willing to contribute to the extracurricular life of the School.

Cover Supervisor

The role requires the post-holder to provide cover for absent teachers, supervising classes and groups of pupils, ensuring that pupils work in a calm and highly productive working atmosphere. An element of this role requires the post-holder to provide support to the PE Department through helping with coaching in Games, practices and matches, particularly rugby. The post is for 30 hours per week, term-time only plus INSET days (39 weeks per year), and will commence as soon as possible. The salary offered for this part-time post will be Local Government Grade 6, points 15-20, approximately £16,309 to £18,007 (full time currently £23,541 to 25,991) per annum.

We are looking for a person with experience of working with young people, with an ability to motivate and organise them well. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and organisation skills with sound IT knowledge. The post would ideally suit a graduate with a keen interest in sport. The ability to coach rugby would be an advantage.

To Apply

If you wish to be considered, please complete the application form at the eteachwebsite and a separate letter of application explaining your suitability for the post. The inclusion of your CV would be welcome. Further details can be found in our Letter to Applicants - please see job-specificspecific documents on the eteachsite.

Closing date: 9am, Monday 23 November 2020

Interviews will take place during week commencing 30 November 2020.

Informal visits to the School would ordinarily be encouraged. To discuss the possibility of a visit during these times or for further information, please contact Jane Morton, Headmaster's PA and HR Manager [email protected].
