World Book Day 5 March

World Book Day 5 March

Published Thursday 26 February 2026 by SJV

World Book Day is nearly upon us! Pupils can get involved in lots of different and creative ways next week, including baking a character or scene from your favourite book, or coming to school as a book character on Thursday. We’re looking for inventive cakes and incredible costumes, plus there are activities in the LRC and quizzes such as the ever-popular Masked Reader to take part in.

Dress as Your Favourite Book Character

£1 to take part. On 5 March come to school dressed as a clearly recognisable book character. Hoodie + jeans + “I’m Tom Gates” will not pass the plot twist test! Prizes for Best Costume and Runner Up.

The Masked Reader Competition

Who’s that behind the mask…can you guess which member of staff is hiding behind their favourite book?

Book-Themed Bake Off

Bake and decorate a cake inspired by a book or character. Prizes awarded for the Best 3 Bakes. Judging takes place in Food Tech at lunchtime on 5 March.

Hunt the Horcruxes!

Hidden around school, protected by clues posted daily throughout World Book Day week.

Group Photo

If you’re dressed up on 5 March join us at break outside the DT rooms at the front of the school for a whole-school character line-up photo - pupils and staff!
