Y13 History Trip to Hampton Court

Hampton Court is truly one of Britain's Tudor treasures and as part of their A2 History course the History Department took 37 Y13 students to visit the palace on Friday 2 nd of October. Greatly encouraged by the promise of a sunny autumn day, we set off in eager anticipation and despite many members of Y13 having attended the previous evening's “Ice Breaker" event we managed to get away by 8:00am.
On arrival the group took part in a themed “mid Tudor crisis" workshop before embarking on a guided tour with our knowledgeable, if slightly eccentric, guide Dan. Highlights included the staircase where Thomas Seymour shot Edward's VI's dog, Henry VII's crown and a lively interaction where both Georgina and Beth were pushed over while impersonating Henry VIII!
All students benefited from experiencing where much of our A Level story takes place, really helping to bring this complicated era of History to life. It was a great trip and a fantastic day to see the palace in all its beauty and splendour.
