Y7 Medieval Day

On Monday June 17th, 110 boys from Year 7 took part in Gloucester Cathedral’s Medieval day, participating in seven 30 minute workshops relating to Medieval life. They sat in the choir stalls before visiting the cloisters, imagining they were the Benedictine monks who built the abbey 900 years ago. A lay clerk then introduced them to medieval plainchant which they learnt to sing in the Lady Chapel. The barber surgeon revolted them with his cures for medieval ailments with a particularly unpleasant cure for constipation. Inevitably the most popular sessions were the two interactive workshops relating to armour and weaponry. An excellent day which was over in a flash
